Besides the confocal microscopes, we offer several other pieces of equipment for the convenience of our users.

Biosafety Cabinet

This Thermo 1300 series A2 hood is a class II, type A2 biological safety cabinet for containing BSL2 level specimens. All specimen handing and incubator assembly should be done within the confines of this cabinet. Nothing is to remain permanently inside this cabinet other than a sharps disposal container.

Tokai Hit Stage Top Incubator System

This device is kept on a cart located between the Biosafety cabinet and the Olympus FV3000. The BBIC provides CO2, N2, and distilled water for the operation of the incubator. Perfusion pumps, syringes, and tubing (3mm), if needed, must currently be provided by the user. Small vessel insert adaptors and other small accessories are kept in the upper right drawer of the FV3000 computer desk.

Dissecting Microscopes

The BBIC has Leica MZ8 and Zeiss Discovery V12 stereoscopes on the lab bench for any extra specimen prep.

Hotpoint refrigerator/freezer

This appliance is available for short term storage of specimens and media.
